CUTTLEFISH (Level 1 - BASICS 101):
* If there is enough demand (15+ couples) for a BASIC BEGINNER track, we will
add this level
* We encourage ALL LEVELS of dancers to attend
* This would be for people who are just starting to dance or very new to dancing
DROP BEARS (Level 2 - Beginner/Intermediate):
* You can find and stay on the beat.
* You know the difference between a blues and swing structure in the music
* You can handle tempos up to 150 bpm
* You know the foundation Lindy moves: Swingout, Circle, and
Charleston
* You have a basic repertoire of Jazz steps: Boogie Back, Boogie
Forward, and Shorty George
* You can lead and follow 6-count moves and/or 8-count moves
EMUS (Level 3 - Intermediate/Advanced):
* You interpret the music with your own dance improvisation within the
structure of the song
* You can handle tempos up to 170 bpm
* You know all the classic Lindy steps (Mini Dip, HTH Charleston,
Kickaround, Texas Tommy)
* You are ready for variations on the foundation Lindy moves
* You have a deeper knowledge of Jazz steps: Fall off the log,
Suzy-Q, Skip Up variations
KOALAS (Level 4 - Advanced):
* You are able to build phrases with your dancing
* You are an instrument in the band
* You can handle tempos up to 190 bpm
* You are working on combining jazz steps with figures

You are ready for complex figures, footwork, and concepts
WALLABIES (Level 5 - Advanced+):
* You are FIRST CHAIR in the band with interpretation, improvisation, and
syncopation skills
* You understand multiple styles and how to apply them to have your own
personal style
* You can handle ALL tempos (190+ bpm)
* You have FULL body awareness and the ability to mix multiple jazz steps
in your dancing

You are an instructor, or very high level students and performer in your
hometown.

You are one of the very BEST dancers in your area.

Each level should have between 25-35 couples.
Each dancer will receive a nametag color that corresponds to your level.
You MUST wear your nametag in every class.
When you register, a series of questions will be used to
determine your level.
There are numerous factors involved in level selection, including available
space and L/F balance.
Everyone will receive an email about the level they are in
after the final day of pre-registration.
EVERYONE will need to attend the LEVEL REVIEW on Sunday,
January 20 at 6:30pm
EVERYONE will take place in the process for us to create the best LEVEL
placement we can.
If you do not attend the level review, we will default to moving you down a
level if we need to.
